Tragedien I Svenskehuset
05:02
|
|||
In the late autumn of 1872
Seal hunters were stuck on Svalbard
Seventeen men set out to the Swedish House
To find food and shelter for the harsh winter
After seven days on the ice cold arctic sea
When they finally reached Isfjorden
They entered a world of suffering and despair
Before death put an end to their misery
One after the other fell victim to the disease
Each day brought a new death
No one could escape
This winter tragedy
Winter tragedy
The next summer they came to rescue the stranded men
But they only found fifteen dead bodies
All men died a painful death
And were buried in a cold and lonely grave

Nemesis
07:05
|
|||
I have whirled with the earth at the dawning,
When the sky was a vaporous flame;
I have seen the dark universe yawning
Where the black planets roll without aim.
Where they roll in their horror
Unheeded,
Without knowledge or lustre
Or name
I was old when the pharaohs first mounted
The jewel-decked throne by the Nile;
I was old in those epochs uncounted
When I, and only I, was vile;
And Man, yet happy
And untainted,
Dwelt in bliss on the far
Arctic isle.
Through the ghoul-guarded gateways of slumber,
Past the abyss of night,
I have lived over my lives without number,
I have sounded all things with my sight;
Driven to madness with fright
Oh, great was the sin of my spirit,
And great is the reach of its doom;
Not the pity of Heaven can cheer it,
Nor can respite be found in the tomb:
Down the infinite aeons come beating
the wings of unmerciful gloom.
I have haunted the tombs of the ages,
I have flown on the pinions of fear,
Where the smoke-belching Erebus rages
Where the jokulls loom snow-clad and drear:
And in realms where the sun of the desert
consumes what it never can cheer.
I am the nemesis, of all things
The hunter in the dark
Born from the night
I am nemesis

The Hail-Storm
05:16
|
|||
When from our ships we bounded,
I heard, with fear astounded,
The storm of Thorgerd’s waking,
From Northern vapours breaking;
With flinty masses blended,
Gigantic hail descended,
And thick and fiercely rattled
Against us there embattled.
To aid the hostile maces,
It drifted in our faces;
It drifted, dealing slaughter,
And blood ran out like water.
Ran reeking, red, and horrid,
From batter’d cheek and forehead;
We plied our swords, but no men
Can stand against hail and foemen.
The Hail Storm
The Hail Storm
And demon Thorgerd raging
To see us still engaging,
Shot, downward from the heaven,
Her shafts of flaming levin;
Then sank our brave in numbers,
To cold eternal slumbers;
There lay the good and gallant,
Renown’d for warlike talent.
Our captain, this perceiving,
The signal made for leaving,
And with his ship departed,
Downcast and broken-hearted;
War, death, and consternation,
Pursued our embarkation;
We did our best, but no men
Can stand against hail and foemen.
The Hail Storm
The Hail Storm
Press the attack
I have invoked the victory
With the blót
Of my firstborn son
With the blót
Of my firstborn son

Collateral Murder
05:14
|
|||
This is the first strike:
A gathering of men in the path of advancing troops
When the men become obscured behind a building
The crew requests authorization to engage
Hellfires bring death and destruction
Unseen terror from the sky
This is the second strike:
As a man was crawling away, a van stopped to help the wounded
The crew repeated their request: "Let us shoot"
Two more dead and children injured
Hellfires bring death and destruction
Unseen terror from the sky
A mission to protect
Became a deadly strife
Inhuman acts of war
Misconceptions, false decisions, people die
Two apaches circling in the sky like birds of prey
The finger always on the trigger
The gun-camera is our witness today
Hellfires bring death and destruction
Unseen terror from the sky

The Lost Ones
04:59
|
|||
Where the sun looks cold and shorn
Where the day is long and lorn
Ah! too long, so cold and dreary,
Long and lorn, and dim and weary
All is frozen still and fast
In that death-land, wild and vast;
Down the darksome northern ocean;
From that darksome northern main,
Over desolation endless,
A region void and friendless
Wrought from uttermost despair
Drear, immeasurable gloom!
One vast shroud, without a tomb,
What a band! and what a doom!
Whether life so closed behind them
That the living never can find them,
Whether kindly, death received them,
And from utter woe relieved them
All is frozen still and fast
In that death-land, wild and vast;
They are the lost ones
They are the lost ones
We are the lost ones
We are the lost ones

Spirits Of The Dead
04:45
|
|||
Thy soul shall find itself alone
'Mid dark thoughts of the grey tomb-stone;
Not one, of all the crowd, to pry
Into thine hour of secrecy.
Be silent in that solitude,
Which is not loneliness- for then
The spirits of the dead, who stood
In life before thee, are again
In death around thee, and their will
Shall overshadow thee; be still.
The night, though clear, shall frown,
And the stars shall not look down
A burning and a fever
Which would cling to thee for ever.
Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish,
Now are visions never to vanish;
From thy spirit shall they pass
No more, like dew-drop from the grass.
The breeze, the breath of God, is still,
And the mist upon the hill
Shadowy, shadowy, yet unbroken,
Is a symbol and a token.
How it hangs upon the trees,
A mystery of mysteries!
The night, though clear, shall frown,
And the stars shall not look down
A burning and a fever
Which would cling to thee for ever.
(Based upon a poem by Edgar Allan Poe)

Im kalten Licht der Ewigkeit
Vergeht das Ich
Wie eine Flamme im Sturm
Verlischt für ewig
Unerbittlich rinnt die Zeit
Zerfällt und geht verloren
Tausend Jahre werden zu Äonen
Im Funken des Augenblicks
Geboren aus dem Nichts
Geworfen in das Leben
Ein kleiner Tropfen
Im Ozean des Seins
Jedem Anfang wohnt das Ende inne
Verstoßen in den Abgrund des Vergessens
Gegangen durch die Zeit
In das kalte Licht der Ewigkeit
Sei immer bereit
Für das kalte Licht der Ewigkeit
Tauche ein ganz weit
In das kalte Licht der Ewigkeit
Gegangen vor der Zeit
In das kalte Licht der Ewigkeit
